Therapist Loretta Sparks offers below one method of using EFT to clear psychological reversal which in the field of meridian therapies means that the energy flow related to a particular subject has become reversed; the client is stuck and the intensity, the SUDs is not moving.

In other words no matter how hard one works at changing a behavior, and no matter how much will power one has in other areas, in the particular issue area, nothing seems to work.

I like to start with this protocol to check the ecology around solving the problem before diving into the problem itself.

This exercise assumes the reader knows the EFT process. Here’s the process:

Find, and then rub the Sore Spot on the left side of your chest saying out loud:

  • “Even with all my problems and limitations, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

Now place your attention on the problem to be cleared:

a. Tap directly under nose (above upper lip) and say out loud 3 times emphasizing the CAPITALIZED words:

  • “Even if I NEVER GET OVER THIS PROBLEM, I accept myself deeply and completely.”

b. Tap the karate chop area on the edge of either hand continuously while saying out loud each of the following Set Up sentences 2 times, emphasizing the CAPITALIZED words:

  • “Even if I am NOT READY to eliminate this problem with ________, I deeply and completely accept myself”
  • “Even if I DON’T DESERVE to get over this problem with ________, I deeply and completely accept myself”
  • “Even if I feel it’s NOT SAFE to get over this problem with _______, I deeply and completely accept myself”
  • “Even if I am SCARED to try to deal with this problem with_______, I deeply and completely accept myself”
  • “Even if I will FEEL DEPRIVED if I get over this problem with _______, I deeply and completely accept myself”
  • “Even if I will NOT DO what is necessary to get over this problem with _______, I deeply and completely accept myself”

“Even if I will LOSE MY IDENTITY if I get over this problem with _______, I deeply and completely accept myself”

Now perform EFT for the problem. Stop, breathe and see what you notice. Sometimes just doing this multi-faceted set-up work will shift the issue dramatically.
